No one can force you to do anything. You chose. You always choose. You can choose not to weigh yourself; you can choose to have a dash of milk in your coffee; you can choose to begin that furtive stumble towards the light.
Conversely, you can choose to remain behind. You can choose to cower. You can choose to starve, binge, abuse yourself. It is a compulsion, yes, but it is a compulsion that can be fixed. Patched up. Knitted anew into a healthier form.
Am I the only person who’s sick and tired of fitspiration? Honestly, how much good do those things really do? Instead of motivating you to make healthy eating and exercise habits, it tricks you into feeling horrible for whatever size you’re at, even if you are healthy! Don’t you think if God wanted you to be different, he would have made you that way? Learn to love yourself as you are in this moment. Not you at a size 2, or at 100 lbs, or when your thighs don’t touch. Love yourself when your hair is a mess, when you could use a breath mint, and when you’re wearing beat up old flip flops because, frankly, they let your feet breathe better than those silly high heels anyway. Learn to love yourself unconditionally, and I can promise you, you’ll be happier as you are now than any weigh loss plan could ever make you feel.
